Welcome Back!

We are thrilled to welcome visitors back to Lake Tahoe after the recent Caldor Fire. Thanks to the tireless work of all the front-line heroes and agencies who worked to protect our town and forests, Tahoe South is open and thriving. It’s the perfect time to secure your wedding date!

When you choose South Lake Tahoe for your wintertime destination wedding, not only will the incredible beauty of the surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for your special day, but there are so many fun things to do! When your guests find out you have chosen South Lake Tahoe for your wedding, you can bet there will be more RSVPs than you expected.

It’s helpful for wedding guests if the bride and groom have gathered information on available activities ahead of time, preferably before they arrive. Some Lake Tahoe winter activities may require certain clothing or gear — and you want your guests to be prepared. Hotel staff at your wedding venue can be a great source of information on activities for your guests, and you can also find information on the website for South Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority.

Snow time fun
The cold winter months are a magical time in South Lake Tahoe — everything changes, from the light to the foliage. Winter weddings bring the challenge of predicting what the weather will be like on the big day. But for guests who love wintertime sports and outdoor activities the weather won’t stop them! South Lake Tahoe is known for incredible ski slopes and snowboarding. Guests coming from out of the area can rent everything they need, from boots to boards. For those who are really looking for a thrill, snowmobiling is the way to go. Your guests can rent a snowmobile and take a tour of the back country for a fun way to enjoy their mini-vacation!

On the quiet side
While some of your wedding guests may enjoy these fast-paced activities, there is a quieter side to snow sports. Many people who love winter sports have never tried snowshoeing, which is a popular way to enjoy the outdoors in relative peace and quiet. A unique way to see the Lake Tahoe area is by arranging a dogsled tour, something most of your guests aren’t likely to have done. Cross-country skiing continues to be a favorite way for visitors — and locals — to enjoy the peace and serenity of the South Lake Tahoe area. Rental equipment is available, so your guests can book even last-minute adventures without worry. Ice-skating is a Tahoe traditional wintertime activity, and you can find several places in the area where you can rent skates and enjoy some ice time, such as The Heavenly Village.

No matter which season you plan to celebrate your wedding in South Lake Tahoe you are guaranteed to find fun activities for everyone in your wedding party.
