Welcome Back!

We are thrilled to welcome visitors back to Lake Tahoe after the recent Caldor Fire. Thanks to the tireless work of all the front-line heroes and agencies who worked to protect our town and forests, Tahoe South is open and thriving. It’s the perfect time to secure your wedding date!

Winter is one of the most romantic times of the year. The lightly falling snow, cozy blankets, and warm fires just make you want to cuddle up with that special someone and never let them go. That cozy feeling and the pristine scenery also make winter a really magical time of year to get engaged. Then you never have to let your sweetheart go! If you’re thinking of popping the ultimate question, we’ve got your back. We’ve put together some fun and romantic winter proposal ideas here in Lake Tahoe.

1. Go ice skating at Heavenly Village

There’s a reason ice skating is in so many romantic comedies. There’s just something so cute and romantic about skating around hand-in-hand with that special someone. The Heavenly Village outdoor ice skating rink is the perfect spot for that romantic proposal — complete with twinkle lights, music, and Tahoe’s gorgeous mountain views. Have fun skating around together, then surprise your soon-to-be fiance by dropping to one knee in the middle of the rink.

2. Write it in the snow

There’s no shortage of fun winter activities in Lake Tahoe — from world-class skiing to snowshoeing to everything in between. Take advantage of it by planning a romantic day in the snow enjoying some adventure, exercise, and each other’s company — like a snowmobile adventure through Lake Tahoe Cruises & Zephyr Cove! Or a winter drive & lookout over Emerald Bay. When the time is right, write the words “Will You Marry Me?” in the snow. Your future fiance will never see it coming! Then, you can set out some cozy blankets, a bottle of champagne or thermos of hot chocolate, and some candles so you can celebrate the moment together surrounded by stunning mountainscapes and fluffy snow. It’s a cozy and picture-worthy moment that your sweetheart is sure to love.

3. Go on a boat cruise

What’s a better way to spend a beautiful winter day than on a lovely boat cruise? Lake Tahoe Cruises & Zephyr Cove Resort offers scenic boat tours around Lake Tahoe on the M.S. Dixie II, even through the winter months. The beautiful lake and mountain views provide the perfect backdrop to a marriage proposal. Plus, you may even be able to get the captain and crew to help you out when you pop the question.

4. Plan a romantic getaway

After this crazy past year, you deserve some time out of the house. If you live in California or Nevada, you don’t have to go far to have a perfect romantic getaway with your soon-to-be fiance. Lake Tahoe is full of great places to stay for a safe and intimate couples getaway.  The Landing Resort & Spa offers amazing couples massages and spa treatments that would serve as a great precursor or follow up to the big proposal moment. The Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe also has a 25,000-square-foot casino floor, if that’s more your style.

5. Take a gondola ride.

There’s really no place for better Tahoe views than the scenic Heavenly Gondola. You can pop the question during the 2.4 mile ride or while stopped at the Observation Deck. Your sweetheart will never see it coming. Plus, a gondola ride can be a precursor to plenty of Lake Tahoe fun, including time at the shops and cafes in Heavenly Village, hiking trails, and skiing. Just be sure you have someone ready to capture the moment with those panoramic views.
