Planning a wedding is a ton of work. So why reinvent the wheel if can save yourself some effort? Check out these clever seasonal wedding ceremony ideas (and a couple of reception ones, too), then feel free to steal away, add your own spin, and—voila!—your wedding = awesome, amazing, and original.

Summer

It doesn’t get much better than a summertime scoop of ice cream. So why not make your summertime Lake Tahoe wedding the coolest by incorporating an all-out ice cream bar. You can let your creativity run wild with this one by including classic toppings like hot fudge and nuts as well as some super fun outside-the-box toppings like peanut butter, marshmallows, crushed pretzels, and caramelized bananas. Go ultra unconventional and offer this sweetest of treats before your ceremony so guests can enjoy it during the event. Or really depart from the norm, and serve up ice cream with—or instead of—wedding cake.

Spring

It’s spring! That means you simply cannot have too many flowers. (Photo courtesy of stocksnap.io)

Having a spring wedding gives you every right to go as gaudy as it gets with the floral elements. In fact, scratch that! There’s no such thing as a gaudy spring wedding—so feel the flower power! Take a fresh approach and depart from tradition simply by including floral elements in as many places as you can imagine. Try weaving long-stemmed daisies into chandeliers or offering rose-petal infused ice water and lavender-laced candies (they’re delicious; you can take our word for it). And be sure to include your wedding party in the theme by going with floral-themed hairstyles for the ladies and statement boutonnieres for the guys. Basically, pulling off the flower-power theme is easy; just make your wedding planning mantra bring on the blooms, and you can’t go wrong.

Winter

The alpine theme was simply made for winter weddings, especially Lake Tahoe destination winter weddings. I mean, after all, with this unique wedding ceremony idea, ninety percent of your decor is already in place (as long as your guests are willing to look around, and at Tahoe South, it’s kind of impossible not to). You can include details like a forest-themed cake (see above), pine branch chandeliers, fresh pine cones, wildflowers—the forest’s the limit! And every single one of our Tahoe South venues offers the ideal backdrop for this romantically rural style.

Fall

With its rustic ruby reds, soft mauves, cinnamon-y cocoa browns, and ginger-spiced magentas, fall has to be the most sensational season when it comes to color. And that means there’s no better time to kick the white-dress paradigm to the curb for your autumn-inspired event. Instead, opt for one of the season’s most toasty tones, and let your wedding gown be a fall fest all its own. If you prefer a subtler shift away from tradition, consider going with a dress in a muted fall tone like the light dusty mauve above, rather than a richer shade.
